Babes In Belts Events
Building community
Coming together - Enjoying a meal - Sharing with friends - Learning
a new skill – it must be a Babes in Belts Event!
Babes in Belts is about building Community. At our first workshop in June 2007, over 75 people attended, and the momentum didn’t stop. We had empowered the community with knowledge on how to accomplish what was on every-one's mind – to take responsibility for our lives and safety – to build a safe shelter in response to climate change. Babes choice to use the ICF system makes the project "doable", not only for contractors, but for individuals and do-it-yourself families too.
Many expressed their gratitude for bringing the community together to meet this challenge as a collective – to help and support one another as volunteers. It was especially valuable for the women that out numbered the men two to one!
