SOLAR POWER WORKSHOP

with Brad Burkhartzmeyer

Continental breakfast and lunch included

This event was held on July 19, 2008. A group of interested folks from the local community attended to learn the basics of building and installing a small solar system.

Working through the Rotary clubs of India and Federal Way, Washington, Brad Burkhartzmeyer traveled to the village of Rath in the state of Uttar Pradesh in north central India to install solar power in a college. He met with farmers along the way, and government officials to learn about possible subsidies to help the farmers with irrigation costs and to fund the solar system for the college at Rath.

Brad has traveled to out-of-the-way places in Guatemala, Nicaragua and Rwanda as well, working through various organizations like the Xela Tecnologia in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala and the Solar Electric Light Fund, a non-profit based in Washington, D.C. You can read more about Brad's work on the North West Solar Group website.
