Babes Gatherings
Building Community
Change is a wonderful opportunity for growth and accomplishment. On July 16, 2008 we celebrated our last community potluck dinner of the season that was combined with a new volunteer recruiting program. To learn more about recruiting volunteers for you shelter construction contact us .
Babe in Belts Community Potluck Dinners
The first Gathering was designed to address the question of who would you be in
a confined space with others for an undetermined length of time? How
would you handle attitudes of disagreement, aggression or illness?
Could you be a peacemaker, a leader or heal the sick? We learned about
personality types and how they respond to each other, and had the
opportunity to "observe" ourselves with others in a relaxed and joyful
interactive exper ience.
That event was followed up with bi-monthly potluck dinners initially created to assist the community with connecting individuals, groups and "new arrivals" for sovereign home/ shelter construction opportunities. The numbers grew, as did the venue.
Meeting twice a month connected and inspired folks to form smaller more localized groups within neighborhoods and with like minded people, and in finding land sharing partners. These groups networked, made new friends and took action on accomplishing their goals in more intimate environments. This we are glad to see!
Over 20 people attended our first dinner. There were several new faces among them. After about 30 minutes of conversation we all sat down to a sumptuous meal. We covered many topics of community interest, answered questions and then broke to allow folks time to get together, discuss their potentials and arrange plans for the future.
Currently, Babes Gatherings are not in demand locally. If you would like assistance with bringing your local community together visit our community listings or contact us .
